People listen to stories.

So whether you are writing a slide presentation or developing content for public use, thinking of the information you want to be conveyed as a story to be told leads to more memorable messages and meaningful actions.

  1. Post-Up the Key Content
    1. The Narrative Outline play starts with a post-up of the important content elements for your communication.
  2. The Facilitator Then Asks Some Key Questions to Start Building the Narrative.
    1. For example:
      • What is the purpose of this communication?
      • Is there a problem are you trying to solve?
      • Who are you telling this story to?
      • Why should they care?
      • What action do you want them to take?
  3. Organize the Information into An Outline
    1. Start organizing your post-its in a narrative flow that leads your audience toward your desired action. You can capture this outline in a document and then use this Narrative Outline to build more detailed content.
